Your quality of sleep has an impact on almost every area of your mental and physical wellbeing. I know when I’m stressed or have a lot on, it’s usually my sleep that is sacrificed first. However if you do struggle with getting enough sleep, there are little things that you can to in order to improve the quality of your sleep. However I am the queen of talking shite and not actually doing it. So I would recommend that you start with small changes and then begin to work them into your daily routine so it becomes second nature to you. Soo here are 10 little tips to help you if you’re struggling getting to sleep. I’m sure that the majority of people already know them. But maybe reading this will encourage you to try maybe to put one of these tips into practice and then that will be one step closer to solving the problem.

  1. Try not to have your Mobile phone in the room with you

  2. Avoid Caffeine, especially after 3 O’clock (I am addicted to coffee so I struggle with this one)

  3. Try to establish a routine, Go to sleep and get up at the same times each day (sometimes not realistic if you’re going on a night out, but generally try do it most days)

  4. Do something that relaxes your before bed

  5. Don’t go to bed hungry, but also don’t go to bed on a full stomach, I know life is annoying, try find the happy medium in-between

  6. Try eliminate Blue light (light from laptop and phones), for at least an hour before you go to bed

  7. Create a nice sleeping environment, I always go to bed much easier when I’ve put new sheets on, so just make small changes to make your environment more comfortable to sleep in.

  8. Showering before bed, this relaxes me, but this may not work for everyone.

  9. Engage in regular exercise routine

  10. Avoid the consumption of alcohol before bed.
